25 Jahre.

Heute. Morgen. Und alles, was noch kommt.

25 years.
Countless memories.
Highs and lows. Laughter, chaos, challenges and moments that have shaped us forever.

But no matter what came our way, we always stuck together.
As a couple. As a family. As a real team.

To be honest, it doesn’t feel like 25 years, but rather a life together full of stories, trust and genuine connection.

Not being perfect has made us strong.
Always being there for one another has made us indestructible.

Thank you for 25 years by my side.
And thank you for this feeling of home, no matter where we are in life right now.

Here’s to us. Today. Tomorrow. And everything that lies ahead. ❤️

Record of the week: Wild Cherry - same Many band Record of the week: Wild Cherry - same

Many bands don’t find success straight away. Singer and guitarist Rob Parissi initially tried his hand at Rock music with his band Wild Cherry (named after a packet of cough sweets), but without success. It was only after a fresh start and a switch to a danceable Funk/Disco mix that the breakthrough came. "Play That Funky Music" became a massive hit in 1976. Both the single and the self-titled debut album went platinum.

And the album cover features a sexy 70s soft-focus look (there were certainly some memorable covers in the 70s, but more on that later).

Record of the week: The Jimmy Castor Bunch - It's Record of the week: The Jimmy Castor Bunch - It's just begun

With this album, James Walter Castor gave us his biggest hit, „Troglodyte (Cave Man)“, and provided the Hip-Hop world with a wealth of samples. „Troglodyte“, a quirky cave-man song that reached number 6 on the US Billboard charts and number 4 on the R&B charts, went on to sell over a million copies. The title track of the 1972 album is definitely my favourite. It’s definitely going in my record bag this coming Thursday.🔥

Record of the week: Jinjé & A Brief Utopia - We in Record of the week: Jinjé & A Brief Utopia - We invisible

Extremely groovy, percussive and danceable. That’s the album “We invisible” by Jinjé (aka Lee Malcolm), a DJ and producer from the UK. A cultural crossover between electronic dance music, tech house, jazz influences and a lot of African percussion instruments – and it definitely works. The BPM is high, making it perfect for a wild night on the dance floor!

Record of the week: Kraftwerk - same At last I’v Record of the week: Kraftwerk - same

At last I’ve added this classic to my collection: The debut album by the Düsseldorf band Kraftwerk with its iconic cover.

At the time of this album’s release, there was no hint that Kraftwerk would later become pioneers of electronic music. It’s dominated by improvisations, soundscapes, ambient sounds and experimentation; the whole thing sounds like early 70s Krautrock. Noteworthy (and the reason I decided to buy it) is the first track, "Ruckzuck" – rhythmic, staccato-like, electronic and monotonous, almost danceable. The track was used in 1971 as the theme tune for the political TV programme "Kennzeichen D". The album wasn’t a commercial success, but it marks the beginning of one of the most influential German bands.

Record of the week: Ray Barretto - Together Raymu Record of the week: Ray Barretto - Together

Raymundo “Ray” Barretto Pagán was an American Latin Jazz percussionist. He played with artists including Tito Puente, Lou Donaldson, Cannonball Adderley, Joe Zawinul and Dizzy Gillespie, and was a member of the Fania All-Stars, the house band of the famous Fania record label.

In 1969, his album “Together” was released, combining Latin Jazz, Boogaloo, Afro-Cuban and Salsa sounds. The title track alone is a mega-groovy dancefloor filler. I’m delighted with my Record Store Day reissue.

This is ‘Maki II’ by the Japanese singer, songwrit This is ‘Maki II’ by the Japanese singer, songwriter and producer Maki Asakawa, released in 1971. Known as the „Queen of the Underground“ she was an important voice of Japan’s urban counterculture.

The album blends jazz, blues and country with folk influences. I find “Govinda” particularly interesting – an Indian song from Japan, a psychedelic snapshot of its time. And above it all is her smoky, throaty and somewhat drawling voice. Very interesting!

Have I ever mentioned that I’m a huge fan of The S Have I ever mentioned that I’m a huge fan of The Sweet? No?

Actually, glam rock isn’t a genre I know much about. But this band, with its fascinating – and later, sadly, tragic – history, really captivated me. At the tender age of 12, a classmate played me two singles he’d borrowed from his brother. And those were ‘Blockbuster’ and ‘Action’ by The Sweet. And ever since, I’ve had a soft spot for this band.

There are albums that are simply legendary. This includes the sixth studio album by the Australian hard rock band, which marked their breakthrough but was, sadly, also the last to feature their singer Bon Scott.

I was just 10 or 11 years old when the follow-ups, "Back in Black" and "For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)", were released. I actually thought the music was really cool, and I still have a cassette tape from that time with "Back in Black" on one side and Van Halen’s "Fair Warning" on the other. We were proper kid rockers! 😂

I’ve got a lovely reissue, which I’ll definitely be taking to the @torretos__barbershop this coming Saturday!

Every now and then I come across records in my col Every now and then I come across records in my collection that I can’t remember where on earth I got them from. That goes for this album by Chet Atkins, the great guitarist and co-founder of the Nashville Sound, too.

Two of my favourite songs, or rather interpretations by him, ‘Windy and warm’ and ‘Catch the Wind’, are unfortunately not on this record. I have them on some compilations. I’ll have to have a proper rummage through my collection…

This double album is as hot as a night in Rio! (I’ve never been there, but it sounds cool…)

The four-piece DJ collective Horse Meat Disco has long been a fixture on the international dance scene, now touring worldwide but also active in their home base of London. For the Mr Bongo label, they have compiled their favourite Brazilian music, from Disco and Boogie to Funk and Samba. Fine sounds that evoke the beach, the sea and wild parties. Speaking of wild: To prevent Instagram from deleting the post for reasons of youth protection (hate speech or fake news, on the other hand, is apparently allowed), I have censored a small (or large) detail on the front cover. 😉

Record of the week: Cumbia Cosmonauts - Cumbia Cos Record of the week: Cumbia Cosmonauts - Cumbia Cosmonauts and the Radio Africa Band

The search for a connection between traditional world music and electronic elements led me to the Swiss label Hawaii Bonsaï Records. In 2019, they released the second album by Cumbia Cosmonauts, a project by Australian DJ and producer Moses Iten. In addition to his partner Thomas „Soup“ Campbell, African musicians Lamine Sonko, Amadou Kalissa and Olugbade Okunade also collaborated on this album.

The result is a thrilling mix of Cumbia, African music and deep bass. Whatever you call it, Digital Cumbia, Global Bass or Tropical Bass: It’s definitely hot stuff!
